Intermodal Asia scheduled to July 2021

03 November 2020

Intermodal Asia 2021, the continent’s leading event for the global intermodal and container shipping sectors, will take place on 20–22 July 2021.

Hosted in Shanghai, the event is an important meeting place for professionals in a sector that has been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is a venue for discussion, networking and doing business with a trusted reputation for uniting decision-making professionals from around the world with the very latest container shipping knowledge, innovation and technology.

The event was originally scheduled to take place in March, but continued uncertainty surrounding global travel, regional restrictions and the status of a COVID-19 vaccine makes holding an event early in the year challenging.

After close consultation with CCIA, Intermodal Asia’s joint venture partner, we have decided that it is in the best interests of the intermodal community to host the 2021 event in July to allow further time for international travel restrictions to ease.

Muyuan Li, The Executive Vice President and Secretary General of China Container Industry Association (CCIA) said:

“The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented challenges for all sectors and countries. At present, China has made positive strides in controlling this disease and our economy has begun to grow again. China's container manufacturers and logistics enterprises have swiftly recovered with some reporting orders on par with last year. We have also seen the resumption of exhibitions, which again is a positive step forward, and we are confident that Intermodal Asia 2021 will be a successful show for the global container industry in July next year.”

Rob Fisher, Event Director of Intermodal Asia said:

“Working alongside our regional partners in China, we’ve taken the necessary decision to schedule Intermodal Asia 2021 to July. The COVID-19 pandemic has created a lot of uncertainty, not just due to travel restrictions and supply chain disruptions, but also surrounding the health, safety and wellbeing of our visitors, exhibitors and partners. We hope hosting the event at this later date will ensure we can run a global meeting place for the industry in a safe and secure environment.

“Intermodal Asia 2021 will be a fantastic opportunity for the industry to reunite after more than a year of disruption, to drive growth and innovation within the intermodal sector and boost the global economic recovery.

“We are looking forward to welcoming exhibitors and visitors to Intermodal Asia in Shanghai next year.”

Our virtual event in March 2021.

We know that our industry needs a forum to network, educate and grow their business, so we have decided to host a virtual event in March 2021, with the aim of providing a digital marketplace where the Intermodal community can discover and showcase new products and innovations, connect with new and existing business partners, and share knowledge and best practice. Intermodal Connect, a digital event with enhanced matchmaking opportunities, video networking and high-quality educational content, will be taking place from 16th to 18th of March 2021.
